Updates to the existing rules concerning cosmetics in Brazil. The national regulatory agency ANVISA has adopted new legislation according to which cosmetics will be exempt from registration and will be subject to a simple notification before sale. Certain categories of products will be exempt: suntan lotion, sunscreen, insect repellent, hand antiseptic and baby products that will continue to be evaluated by the Agency taking into account the risks associated with them. The new norm, which applies to all cosmetic products, products for personal hygiene and perfumes, aims to make it easier for the industry and allows the Agency to focus on the evaluation of the products with the highest risk. The rule does not alter the parameters and safety requirements for this category of products, which will be verified through periodic inspections of the procedures, market monitoring and verification and analysis of what is being made available to consumers.
